02 Jul Summer at 720 Strategies Brings New Faces to its Creative, Accounts, Technology and Media Relations Departments
720 Strategies has expanded our team over the summer with great new talent in the Creative, Accounts, Technology and Media Relations Departments. A late mention for Jo Spiker, Vice President of Creative Services, also adding Sara Herbst and Eric Cavell to the Creative team. Bill Cioffi joined our Accounts department as a Senior Account Director. Mike Esser is the new Vice President of Media Relations. Heather Cutler has been named Vice President of Client Experience. And rounding out recent additions is our newest team member, Curtis Oden, who will take the reins as Chief Technology Officer.
Jo Spiker, VP of Creative Services, was born in central Virginia and moved north to spend his childhood amidst the beauty and grandeur of Mt. Desert Island, Maine. He graduated ‘ages ago’ with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Howard University (DC) and Master of Professional Studies from the Pratt Institute (Brooklyn and Manhattan, NYC). Over the ages, Jo has led design projects for many high-profile brands including Audi, Ducati, Oakley and Hewlett Packard. His experience in political campaigns include Hillary Clinton’s 2007 presidential run, Obama for America and the serious, yet satirical, Senator Al Franken. Jo has 2 daughters, Tyasia (20) and Portia (8), and currently lives in hip Takoma Park, ‘The Berkeley of the East’.
Mike Esser, VP of Media Relations, was born in the town of Merton, Wisconsin, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee with a B.S. in Political Science, International Studies and Mediation, all of which come in quite handy in Washington, DC. He’s applied his political experience in communications and PR for the last eight years working for the Democratic Party in Wisconsin and the Democratic National Committee. He lives with his new bride, Nikki, in historic Mt. Pleasant, DC.
Heather Cutler, VP of Client Experience, was born in Reading, PA, but will deny her Pennsyltucky roots if asked. The ‘Lioness’ graduated from Penn State University with a B.A. in International Politics and History, which is apparently of more use in Washington, DC, than in Reading. In between frequent trips to Napa Valley, she lives in Arlington, VA, with her ‘country born and bred’ husband, Eric, and 3-1/2 y.o. daughter, Sloane.
Bill Cioffi, Senior Account Director, was born ‘on the banks of the Hudson’ in Albany, NY. He graduated from Lynchburg College in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia with a B.S. in Marketing. At 25, together with a partner, he opened his own creative studio working with clients including the U.S. Air Force, Air National Guard, Geek Squad and Roy Rogers (the chicken, not the cowboy). Since his early days he’s worked for some of the top national and global agencies in B2B and B2C markets. He currently lives in Centerville, VA, with his wife Lisa.
Curtis Oden, Chief Technology Officer, was born ‘along the banks of the Red River’ in Shreveport, Louisiana. He graduated from Centenary College of Louisiana with a B.A. in English Literature and Management Information Systems. His nearly 20 years of software development, engineering and project management will be invaluable in guiding our development team. Curtis pilots both single engine aircrafts and Harley-Davidsons. He lives in Alexandria, VA, with his wife Julia and two precious daughters.
Eric Cavell, Print & Web Designer, is originally from Frederick, MD. He graduated from Towson University with a B.F.A. in Graphic Design. He cut his teeth at everyone’s favorite news radio, PBS in Washington, DC. A man of many creative talents, he enjoys painting, illustration and sculpting.
Sara Herbst, Senior Graphic Designer, is originally from Scarsdale, NY. She graduated from the historic Alfred School of Art & Design in Southern Tier, NY, with a B.F.A. in Graphic Design. She worked for the esteemed New York artist, Milton Glaser and the School of Visual Arts in NYC. She currently lives and cooks Ashkenazi brisket on Capitol Hill with Darcy, the cutest rescue dog in the world.
