When Computing in the Core -- a national non-partisan advocacy coalition of associations, corporations, scientific societies and other non-profits working to elevate computer science education to a core academic subject in K-12 education -- decided to launch itself, they turned to SevenTwenty Strategies. We designed a clean, organized and interactive website that is pleasing to look at, easy to use and armed with the latest social media tools in order to meet the campaign's goals.
CinC encourages awareness building, policy changes and research at national, state, and local levels, building a strong foundation for the future of computer science instruction. The campaign also strives to engage federal and state policymakers, educators, the public and the media to meet these goals.
SevenTwenty Strategies' Art Director, Mike Aleo, aimed to provide creative and functional elements to support CinC's mission, with the site utilizing many progressive enhancements, especially for visitors using modern browsers, such as Chrome and Safari. While the site maintains the same clean look and feel in older browsers, browsers like Safari and Chrome achieve higher interactivity through animations and transitions. CinC also utilizes social media features that allow users to "like" and "share" content with members of their social networks.
Through new Web technologies and the power of Encompass720, our content management system (CMS), the CinC slideshow featured on the home page is completely editable through the CMS without need for a programmer or designer. This enables their staff to update items on the fly, while maintaining the hand-crafted look and feel. In the end, the client and coalition partners have a website that positions their campaign for greater success in their mission to bring Computing in the Core.
