Return to Solutions American Council of Young Political Leaders

DemocraticYouth.net is an award-winning site built in conjunction with the American Council for Young Political Leaders to connect Eastern European and Eurasion youth interested in democratic development.  It was conceived by a disparate group of young adults who participated in a United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-financed seminar in Macedonia in 2005. Participants at the 2006 seminar in Moldova defined and created content for the Web site, and four days later the site was launched at a press conference covered by local and regional media.

Seminar participants were between the ages of 18 and 30 and from Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Georgia, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.

Over the course of the five-day seminar, 720 Strategies provided in-country best practices Web site development training to the young political leaders. 720 Strategies staff in Washington, DC built the site over four days based on decisions and writing transmitted daily by the seminar participants.
